Back in black…

Well it’s time for me to say hello and apologise for abandoning LiveJournal for a little while, now I think I shall attempt to be a true blogger, and why not? it’s good for the soul, apparently.

My Weekend: I went on a march with my good friend Katie, we were marching to have nuclear power reinstated as we both passionately believe it is the energy source of the future… just kidding, I do, but she doesn’t. Well it was the climate march in central London, I would show you some pics but they havn’t been processed yet, yes I probably need a good digital camera if I am to be a true blogger, you’re right, but I will process them soon, and let you have a gander, promise.

I was very happy at the end of the march, because it turned out there was a gig afterwards, how exciting! KT Tunstall, and well 2 seconds of Razorlight for me, as myself and Katie had to hike (in some cases barefoot) back to land of dragons, southampton, nightmare.

Then on Sunday I went to the cinema with Freya (who may I add is delightful) and we went and saw Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan which is a documentary by a Kazakhstani journalist by the name of Borat Sagdiyev and his assistant Azamat Bagatov…

It’s Nice!

The film is widely misinterpreted as a comedy by some, who say that Borat is simply a creation of a comedian from England, but anyone who has been watching carefully will see that everything to do with Borat is desturbingly true. The racist underpinings of the film are widely seen in the east as not amusing, but frightening, where we might see comedy, in Kazakhstan they may see horror, Borat’s "crazy" attitude in the west may be amusing to some, but it is a desturbing view of the future to people like me, one day we will be flooded by many Borat clones, a nightmare world if I ever thought of one.

None the less this documentary, documenting Borat’s travels accross America in order to find a wife is well worth viewing, if only to see the attitudes prevalent in nations such as Kazakhstan and understand our worldly neighbours. Five Stars.

Up next movie fans: Casino Royale!

While I have been gone many things have happened, I got a laptop notebook in the form of a now defunct MacBook Pro…

(This is the new one but it looks almost exactly the same as mine)

(while it was still new, in August) and I’ve been playing around with it, now you must understand I absolutely hate the current iMac, urgh! So I’m put off of all Apple’s consumer line, so no MacBooks for me. But I love this, so easy to use, but I’ve currently clogged it up with Lost episodes, what I need is an external hard drive. Next on my wishlist is Windows Vista, which if you’ve seen pics of, actually looks really cool, it could almost put my mac to shame, for a screenshot look here and for those that are wondering, yes it is exactly like Mac OS 10.4 - with cooler looking windows, no dock and less security. Ace!

Ah but there’s always Mac OS 10.5 to look forward to… ok nerdyness over…

And I hope this brings about more bloggieness in the future! See ya then!

Every Wednesday, like clockwork…

Well thanks to the magic that is Orange Wednesdays, I have a surprise for you guys & girl, I not only have a ‘Superman Returns’ review for you (yes I didn’t lie!) but also a review of the new Kid spy adventure thingie-what ‘Stormbreaker’! Amazing!

Superman Returns
Well, they said Superman could never be brought back to film, and they were right, I mean wrong, uh sorry. The saddest thing about this film is that it gets rid of the Superman III and Superman IV films history, I don’t exactly know what difference it makes, but it’s most likely something big, like Clark Kent dying or something.

The view was spoiled by 2 chavs the other side of the auditorium who insisted on jumping over their seats and going for popcorn every 56 seconds, and the fact that we had to watch the film from the most obscure angle possible thanks to the fact some girl had decided to put her feet up in the arm rest of the seats I wanted to go into.

Is it a DVD film? yes, Superman Returns is a fantastic film! Everyone in this film was great and there was no bad acting, it was very well written, very well put together motion picture. The CGI effects did not take over, though some bits were a bit obvious, “Ooh I wonder if Superman will now swoop in and save the day? Yes yes he will.”.

I look forward to the sequel!!! Superman II?

Stormbreaker
OK for our second treat, Stormbreaker, this started off pretty slowly, when I saw the caption “ISLE OF MAN FILM” I told my fellow cinema-goers that “We should leave…now.” - but it turns out, the Isle of Man does have a reasonably good film industry. The supposedly 14 year old Alex Rid3r has been being trained by his always absent uncle to take over the world or something, and Alex must save the world from a bullied American psycopath, who is sooo not Lex Luthor.

This American has created the worlds createst computer, with the worlds coolest everything just so he can kill every british schoolchild in existence. The prime minister, Tony “Hagrid” Blair, is played by Robbie Coltrane, who I think we’ll all agree, is a perfect choice for our charming, jolly overweight prime minister.

The movie is slightly spoilt by the use of product placement, and that smoke screen sooo came from the vent below the PSP. Apparently Mario Cart is a game, well what do you know?

I’d say 85% of the actors could act, which is always good. A DVD film? No.

OK, I lied….

I’m sorry, I didn’t get to go see Superman Returns today, so I haven’t got a review for you. I did however get to watch Lost last night, most entrancing. Hieroglyphics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I plan to study Lost for my media coursework next year, and debate whether it and other dramas are becoming bigger than cinema. Clearly from what you’ve seen from me, I seem to act as if film is “excellent!” and that drama is a bit “weird” or “kooky” to talk about, I still enjoy it.

So will you get your Superman Review? yes, completely, next week I promise! Have a wonderful day fans.

Hello!

Hello there. My name’s Darran. I’m very pleased to meet you.

I think I’ll start my “LJ” as it is so called, with a big one, a movie I am afraid to admit it is not my first movie review, but hopefully it will not be my last!

You look smashing today, by the way.

So, about, ooh, a week ago, I went to the cinema, I find it normally helps when you want to go see a movie, though apparently according to the film board, you can download an ilegal copy! - how convenient, and free! Marvelous, but I can’t really be bothered.

So which movie was it? My word, how can you not know!

I like those shoes.

No, that wasn’t the name of the movie, I was just saying, the film was: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. I thought it was a good film, though I can’t quite remember, as it went so fast that I think I lost the plot. Now I think Johnny Depp is a fantastic actor, and should be made king of England, but to be honest he wasn’t as good as he was in the first film, maybe he was and I just can’t remember.

I think this is one film I will have to see 12 times to process, very enjoyable.

Tomorrow, we’ll have a look at Superman Returns! See you then!
Tata!
