Enemy of the Steak

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh! Being a vegetarian is much harder work than I had first imagined, meals are fine we’ve got that sorted, with fake vegetarian meats and lots of pasta that I can cook getting home is settled. But after asking a few questions I suddenly realised why Carly (a fellow explorer scout) refuses every piece of food she’s offered, anything could have animals in it. Now I have been tricked by a few of these things, so I’m sorry to everyone, especially Paul McCartney, who is my mentor (it was a competition on the side of a pack of corn flakes).

Bread - make sure you get vegetarian rolls! Don’t buy Pastries that you don’t know what’s in, I got caught out the other day, assuming all “Cheese and Onion” slices were vegetarian, bought it and ate it - now even though it said Pork Farms, I assumed they would make it suitable for vegetarians (I mean why not?) but no, I looked at the pack and no logo, no statement, no “This product contains an animal who was mass murdered.” notice. Then I asked my friend, he hit the nail on the head “Lard” ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I hate Pork Farms, they should die, and by that I mean the owners, the pigs should be free!

So I’m going to turn everything away now, croissants, cakes, I have no idea whats safe! Is chocolate safe? I’ve learnt that certain crisps are safe, namely KP’s NickNaks (I love the purple ones), Wheat Crunchies, Walker’s Prawn Cocktail (unless Walkers don’t count Prawns as life forms and they kill them anyway - please let me know). McCoys are evil, not for human consumption.

I’ve been looking at what Staffordshire Uni sent me as encouragement to join a week after I chose to become vegetarian - effing haribo, of course I was a moron and ate it, but I realised soon after. I wont make that mistake again.

Is shampoo safe? Apparently some soft drinks have gelatine in to “impart a yellow colour to beta-carotene” - AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I may as well move to the moon and eat moon dust!

Finally last but not least I must confess to these sins, I love glossy covered magazines, posters et.al. I am a photography student with a film camera and I print on glossy paper. All of these things use animal gelatin, Haribo style, I hate them but I’m not giving them up. Sorry.
